Hammerhead Smart Award
Hammerhead Smart Award Report
The following report provides detailed evidence of the quality and strength of both conventional wet and dry fillet welds and those of wet and dry spot welds (Hammerhead (HH) system). The report is broken up into small sections so you can download the most relevant parts. We recommend you download the section (introduction, evaluation, welding criteria, conclusions and summary) first, as this will provide you with a fuller understanding as to how the trials were organised. After which, you can download information on the quality and strength data on fillet welds, (wet & dry) using our Barracuda Gold and Hammerhead electrodes and compare them to spot welds (wet
& dry) using Hammerhead (HH) electrodes. The trials were conducted on clean, rusty and painted steel plates having a combined thickness of 16.0mm - 30.0mm and were welded in both good and nil visibility by both skilled and non-skilled welders. Welds were made as either a single spot welds on a standard test piece, or as two, three or four spot welds, per standard test piece. All material testing was conducted by Bodycote Materials Testing Services.
